About the Film
Set in 1990s Punjab, Soohe Ve Cheere Waleya presents Sooba, played by Nirvair Pannu, a well-educated young man who runs a telephone shop and carries a strong attachment to his ancestral land. His life changes when he begins listening to the poetry of Naazo, played by Tanu Grewal, on Lahore Radio.
Naazo is a mute poet from Pakistan who expresses her emotions through shayari that travels across borders. Her poetry creates a connection that draws Sooba closer to her world. A lost military wireless set brings them into contact and connects their lives in an unexpected way.
What begins with confusion grows into a deep emotional bond. Their connection reflects love and separation linked to the Partition. As Sooba crosses the border in search of Naazo, their meeting brings together two sides through emotion, poetry, and shared history.
